OUR STORY
Two homes. One journey.
A personal story about family, roots and the dream of creating something new, between Ethiopia and Denmark.

MY STORY
One journey, two homes
I came to Denmark from Ethiopia to build a better life. Today Denmark is my home, but Ethiopia is still an important part of me.
I am a mother of three girls, and over the years I have learned what it means to build a life between two places and two cultures. I have also experienced how much you can miss the small things that were a natural part of everyday life at home in Ethiopia.
Two places. One family. One bigger opportunity.
WHERE IT BEGAN
A need, an opportunity
Habesha Market began with a very simple need I experienced myself: finding teff flour, spices, pots and other products that were part of everyday life back home was not always easy in Denmark.
When a local supplier I used moved away, I suddenly realised I was not alone with this problem. Many of my friends and others around me were missing the same products.
That was the moment I decided to start Habesha Market.

A BIGGER VISION
More than just products
Today the vision is bigger than bringing products from one home to another.
I want to share the rich diversity of Ethiopian and Habesha food and culture with Denmark and the rest of the Nordics.
At the same time I want to introduce Ethiopian craft and authentic products to a wider market: from handmade leather and textiles to jewellery, kitchenware and other products with a connection to Ethiopia.
And I want to create new things where my two homes meet.
Ethiopian and Nordic-inspired jewellery is one example. Ethiopian handmade leather goods are another.

THE FUTURE
Together for new horizons
Habesha Market is my way of connecting my two homes and creating something new between them.
I hope you will be part of the journey.
